The Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) is a governmental body that possess a legal personality with financial and administrative independence and is considered the legal successor of the Electricity Regulatory Commission (ERC) and the Jordan Nuclear Regulatory Commission (JNRC) and the Natural Resources Authority (NRA) in relation to its regulatory tasks according to law No. (17) for the year (2014) regarding the restructuring of institutions and governmental organizations.
EMRC Roles and Responsibilities:
• Regulate the energy and minerals sectors, including regulating and control of the uses of the nuclear energy and ionizing radiation.
• Ensure the provision of services in the energy and minerals sectors that are safe, stable, durable and performed at a high quality.
• Ensure that the operating projects in the energy and minerals sectors are fulfilling the requirements of protecting the environment and the public, and the safety requirements under the national legislation in force, including the requirements of radiation protection and nuclear safety and security.
• Working to protect the environment and human health and properties from the dangers of pollution and exposure to ionizing radiation in accordance with the provisions of the Energy and Minerals Law, and the regulations and instructions issued thereunder.
